Hello everyone----- Further regarding he United and other Chicago brands.
The Fabrizio/Paul books contain all the information I've learned from the past
37 years of studying these companies, which includes the keys to their true
identities (Standard/Harmony/United were essentially the same firm after 1911,
etc. etc.). The best descriptions can be found in The Talking Machine, an
Illustrated Compendium, and Discovering Antique Phonographs, but information
about the co.s is scattered throughout the 7 volumes. If you don't own copies,
check the library, many have at least a couple of the books in their stacks. I
also have written quite a few articles on the Chicago machines, commencing
in he early 1970s, but these could prove much harder to locate, since some of
the publications were of quite limited scope.

Since I seem to be hung up on a note of unbridled conceit and shameless
self-promotion----- I'd like to remind fellow L-ers about the new Fabrizio/Paul
book that is due out in June--- A WORLD OF ANTIQUE PHONOGRAPHS. Like the
others, it does contain (in addition to much else) a few tidbits about the Chicago
machines. I am running and George is running a "special introductory price
offer" -- so please go to my Web site _www.phonophan.com_
(http://www.phonophan.com) if interested, or e-mail me at _phonophan at aol.com_
(mailto:phonophan at aol.com) or George at _GPaul2000 at aol.com_ (mailto:GPaul2000 at aol.com) . Best
to all------------
