[Phono-L] Question about VICTOR VI (The Sixth) Horn

Unless mine was repainted before I got it in the 1970s, I did not detect any
painted grain. I matched the color from what was protected under the horn
elbow because the rest of the paint was in bad shape. I suppose they might
not have continued the grain effect under the elbow though. It's nice to
know that I have a rare example in my steel and brass horned type 6.

Subject: Re: [Phono-L] Question about VICTOR VI (The Sixth) Horn

The brass and steel Victor "VI" (or more appropriately; 6) horn is shown in
"Antique Phonograph Accessories & Contraptions" on page 20 in full color.
The
faux mahogany graining makes what would be a nondescript horn something
extraordinary. It may not have the flash of the No.24B or the mass appeal
of a
mahogany No.31, but I'd bet that it's the rarest of the horns meant for the
Victor
"6/VI."
