If I may insert my 2 cents here, MAPS has a California chapter, the Golden State Phonograph Society which also puts out a monthly newsletter with articles on many areas of collecting!
Does OTAPS have a newsletter again? I know they used to, and just after I joined, it stopped! Perhaps the chapters can send each other their newsletters?

  >From some of the posting, I get the impression that
some people are not aware of the more traditional
resources available to the modern collector. "The
Sound Box" is a publication offered quarterly from the
California Antique Phonograph Society. It is a
wonderful publication that is dedicated to the
scholarly study of the talking machines and
recordings. The other eagerly anticipated publication
is "In The Grove", a monthly publication provided by
the Michigan Antique Phonograph Society. Both
publications are provided to members of the respective
clubs. I highly recommend membership in both clubs.
The cost is minimal and the benefits are huge. Both
clubs have websites so check them out. Happy
collecting, Jerry Blais
