Hi Adam,Let me know if you got the drawing I sent you off list. Did you replace or rotate the stylus? The cylinder records gets the sound from the bottom of the groove. The H stylus itself looks like the bottom half of a baseball bat. The end that goes into the record groove is like two dinner plates that are together not stacked but opposed. When the stylus wears and does not properly fit and contact the sound grooves you will get an echo on certain records along with poor quality sound and reduced volume. I rotated the stylus for a man that was perfectly happy with his H as he thought it just sounded that way. When I returned the reproducer to him he was amazed at the improvement. I use heat and shellac to install styli. The C and H are very easy to rebuild, the key things to look for are: Link correct length, the bar will be horizontal with the weight resting when the reproducer is on its sound tube. Hinge block freely moves. Stylus bar freely moves. Stylus in good condition. Normally on the H the biggest thing that affects sound is a worn stylus, it was designed for wax and wears faster on the Blue Amberol records, I have seen many worn H styli.Steve
